NFFL

The NFFL, or Nigerian Flag Football League, serves as the premier professional league for flag football in Nigeria. NAFA has also launched a high school flag football league with over 300 teams in both male and female divisions as of 2025, and has initiated the development of a tertiary/collegiate flag football program. Through ongoing partnerships with semi-professional leagues nationwide, the NFFL is a key component of the organization’s talent development pipeline, ensuring that flag football is firmly established across Nigeria.

WHY NFFL

American Football was once considered a tough sport, but as rules changed to improve safety, Flag Football emerged as its non-contact alternative. Adopted by the NFL, Flag Football allows people of all ages and genders to participate safely and is now seen as the future of the NFL. The Nigeria Flag Football League (NFFL) was introduced at the grassroots level to help young adults learn the game in a safer environment, develop skills, and minimize injuries. Once it is launched, the league will include preliminary rounds, state championships, and a National Championship Game, with state winners advancing to compete nationally.
