NAFA Dominates Lagos with Historic Double-Header, Ushering in End-of-Year Celebrations
LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria American Football Association (NAFA) concluded its 2025 calendar with a remarkable display of athletic prowess and community engagement, executing two major events on a single, action-packed day: Saturday, December 20, 2025. The dual participation at the Active Boulevard Detty December Marathon and the hosting of a tackle football exhibition at the FreeKick Lagos event served as the association’s official year-end spectacular.
Both initiatives were made possible through the comprehensive sponsorship of Browns Nigeria, a key partner in advancing the sport locally.

Morning Movement: NAFA Promotes Fitness at Detty December Marathon
The day commenced at Onikan Stadium as NAFA members joined fitness enthusiasts for the Active Boulevard Detty December Marathon (Workout Edition).
NAFA utilized this high-visibility platform to formally activate the local chapter of the ISCA (International Sport and Culture Association) “Now We Move” campaign. This global public health initiative champions physical activity and wellness. NAFA participants actively engaged with attendees, promoting the benefits of an active lifestyle while simultaneously raising awareness for the burgeoning American football scene in the country.

Evening Thrills: FreeKick Lagos Showcases Full-Contact Action
The momentum shifted in the afternoon to the Campos Mini Stadium for the FreeKick Lagos event. In a significant partnership, NAFA staged an exhilarating American Football Tackle Exhibition Final.

The exhibition provided a compelling showcase of full-contact football, featuring professional officiating, strategic gameplay, and high-impact action that captivated the audience. The event underscored the growing technical skill and passion for the sport among Nigerian athletes.

The halftime entertainment was a highlight in itself, featuring a dynamic Flag Football showcase delivered by the Female Flag Football National Team. This all-female display of athleticism and skill was executed under the Gridiron Gems initiative of NAFA and Browns Nigeria, a program dedicated to fostering women’s participation and excellence in flag football.

A Coordinated Effort for Maximum Impact
The successful execution of both events on the same day highlights NAFA’s operational efficiency and strategic vision to engage diverse demographics.

“Saturday was a testament to the dedication of our entire association and the invaluable support from Browns Nigeria,” said Mr Seye Obatolu, Vice President of NAFA. “By connecting with the fitness community in the morning and delivering a top-tier tackle exhibition in the evening, we maximized our reach, ending 2025 on an incredibly high note and setting a robust standard for the year ahead.”
NAFA’s end-of-year initiatives have effectively cemented American football’s place within Lagos’s vibrant sports and social calendar, promising an even more active and exciting 2026 season.
