Overview

Meet the game on the page before you meet it on the pitch.

Jojo and the Winning Play puts young Nigerian players on a flag football field — under the same NSSFFL, NCFFL and Gridiron Gems banners that line NAFA's real competitions. Children get a first look at the game: flags instead of tackles, teamwork, and a play that comes together when it matters.

Launched in Lagos in September 2026, the book is available in English, Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Swahili, Arabic, French and Italian — built to promote children's literacy and a strong reading culture through sports storytelling.

Programme goals

01 Introduce flag football to K-12 classrooms through reading.
02 Put Nigerian children at the centre of an American football story.
03 Connect young readers to NAFA's school pathway — the U13 competition, the NSSFFL and the Aketi Bowl.

Characters

Drawn to look like the kids who play.

Isaac Onyeukwu's characters wear the flags, cleats and team colours young players see at NAFA's school leagues.
